Le Rêve

After a couple days in beautiful sunny Los Angeles, we will hit the streets of sin city in Las Vegas, Nevada. While in Vegas we will meet with PR professionals then catch a Vegas show. What show you ask??

A Little History
Le Reve was the first production show to open in the Wynn Las Vegas casino resort on May 6, 2005.  Over one million-gallon capacity theater and features diving and feats of strength with state-of-the-art special effects, where no seat is more than 40 feet from the stage. The production was created by Franco Dragone and is similar to the shows produced by Cirque du SoleilLe Rêve was the working name of the resort before it was changed to Wynn Las Vegas. "Le Rêve" means "The Dream" in French. Recently, Wynn Las Vegas bought the rights to the show from Dragone to make some changes, including the logo. Wynn now owns all rights to the show, with Dragone still on the label.

PR Strategies and Tactics

  • Show is constantly changing. Every 6 months the show is re-choreographed in order to keep it fresh for frequent visitors.
  • Inventing a new, improved, profitable version of the show. More leg room, Built-in TV monitors, and Champagne service.
  • Promoting the show through videos from Youtube, Wynn, Vegas Websites

Let the show begin...

PR Meeting # 2

Once again, we met as a group to go over in depth of what we will expect in California. We Face-timed with Chelsea Blasco, Special Events Director and Regional Conference Coordinator for CSUF PRSSA. She enthusiastically described what will be lined up at conference.
Chelsea Blasco
Couple words to describe the conference:

  • Superheros
  • Beaches
  • Dr. H
  • Networking
After speaking with Chelsea, it really got me excited to have all these opportunities to meet with PR professionals and network. We then went over resumes and business cards to help clean them up for the conference.

Heres what I'll be passing out! Which one do you think?

Disneyland

Disneyland is every kids dream right? Think what it would have been like to be there on opening day! All the magic and excitement, kids running everywhere checking off their list to ride every Disney ride possible. After years of planning, Walt Disney's very first theme park Disneyland opened its gates on Sunday July 17, 1955 in Anaheim, California. Television crews, special guest, and over 28,000 guests witnessed the opening of Walt's dream. Broadcast on ABC at 4:30PM, it was the biggest live telecast to date. The park offered 5 themed lands with a total of 18 attractionsDisneyland
opened as invitation only on this day, given to studio workers, construction workers, the press and officials of company sponsors. (The park opened to the general public the following day - July 18.) Because tickets to the grand opening were counterfeited, a surprising 28,000-plus attended. The day was marked by numerous disasters, including a traffic jam, a shortage of food, and a gas leak in Fantasy land. Even a chunk of window from the Mark Twain Steamboat crashed on the head of an invited state senator! They managed to fix all mishaps and continue with the grand opening.
Today, is nothing less. The magic still continues, and to be honest I can't wait to visit this magical kingdom again.

"To all who come to this happy place: welcome. Disneyland is your land. Here age relives fond memories of the past...and here youth may savor the challenge and promise of the future. Disneyland is dedicated to the ideals, the dreams and the hard facts which have created America ... with the hope that it will be a source of joy and inspiration to all the world."

PR Trip Meeting #1

Today the lucky 12 PRSSA students, selected to go on the Spring 2013 PR trip to LA/ Vegas, finally met as a group. I was running a couple minutes late due to meetings at work but I made it. We met in conference room LC 207 and sat around one huge table and introduced ourselves. I knew a couple of the students in the room just from taking Farrah's case study class or being on the executive board of PRSSA. After we introduced ourselves we mingled around the room to get to know the others and went over the boring stuff, better known as the rules and paperwork. We finally got the day by day schedule for the entire trip and so far it seems pretty fun and excited. I cant wait until March 14!! Time to network!!
