Mixin' it up

To begin our busy day, we woke up super early to beat the crazy LA traffic and arrive on time for our Warner Brothers Studios VIP tour. It must of been one of my most memorable days ever.
The PR group got the privilege to take a peek of all the magic the WB production company creates from shows to movies.

Favorite part of the tour was stepping onto the Friends, Pretty Little Liars, and The Ellen Degeneres Show sets!
Best day ever, since they're all in my top 5 favorite shows, ever.

After our tour we got to meet with our very own UVU alum, Jo Metcalf. Jo works for the Conan O'brien Show as a production assistant. She gave us insight on what it's like to work in the entertainment world of television. Very proud and inspiring to have one of our very own UVU alum to be successful in the tv entertainment world. Gave me hope for my very own success in my future career.

To kick off the regional conference at Fullerton, the PRSSA chapter at CSUF, threw a mixer for all attendees. We got to register in, eat heavy hors d'oeuvres, and network with other PRSSA members.

After mixing it up with other members, we all hit the streets of Downtown Disney.

One word.
FUN.

Road-trip.

It was an early morning start to our 10 hour long road-trip to Fullerton, CA. We met up at 6am at UVU and loaded up the two Yukons and hit the road.
Peace out Utah!

Hello Sunshine, I'm Home!

We were welcomed to Fullerton with warm and amazing weather.
Checked into our hotel which happened to be a Marriott <3 and next door to the CSUF campus. Score!
Roommates were put together and mine were
Hope Jackson, Julie Brown, and Cori Fox.
After settling into our rooms we all decided to head to Newport for some food, shopping, and of course hit the Beach. We just had to go stick our feet in the soft brown sand and take in the lovely fresh air.

Beautiful.

This years regional conference is hosted by the Cal State Fullerton PRSSA chapter, which is located in Fullerton, California. Its gorgeous campus is in the heart of Orange County with over 37,677 students enrolled and having an amazing Public Relations program. Can't wait to visit, network, and learn so much from all my PR peers and professionals at conference.

Venetian Resort- Hotel- Casino

14 more days and our PR group will be in Sin City and staying at the luxurious Venetian Resort-Hotel-Casino. We will be meeting with UVU Alum Nate Gray, PR Coordinator for the Venetian.

The Venetian has to be one of favorite places to stay in Vegas. Its glamorous hotel, amazing rooms, and  very entertaining events. The entertainment they provide is endless, from pool parties, shows, and clubs. The Venetian Resort-Hotel-Casino also re-creates Venice’s legendary landmarks, making you fall in love in the city of sin.

I'm very excited to meet with Nate Grey, since I work in the industry of hotels and hope to be in his shoes one day. Having the opportunity to meet with one of the PR coordinators of this prestigious hotel is golden learning experience and I cant wait to learn so much from him.

Le Rêve

After a couple days in beautiful sunny Los Angeles, we will hit the streets of sin city in Las Vegas, Nevada. While in Vegas we will meet with PR professionals then catch a Vegas show. What show you ask??

A Little History
Le Reve was the first production show to open in the Wynn Las Vegas casino resort on May 6, 2005.  Over one million-gallon capacity theater and features diving and feats of strength with state-of-the-art special effects, where no seat is more than 40 feet from the stage. The production was created by Franco Dragone and is similar to the shows produced by Cirque du SoleilLe Rêve was the working name of the resort before it was changed to Wynn Las Vegas. "Le Rêve" means "The Dream" in French. Recently, Wynn Las Vegas bought the rights to the show from Dragone to make some changes, including the logo. Wynn now owns all rights to the show, with Dragone still on the label.

PR Strategies and Tactics

  • Show is constantly changing. Every 6 months the show is re-choreographed in order to keep it fresh for frequent visitors.
  • Inventing a new, improved, profitable version of the show. More leg room, Built-in TV monitors, and Champagne service.
  • Promoting the show through videos from Youtube, Wynn, Vegas Websites

Let the show begin...

PR Meeting # 2

Once again, we met as a group to go over in depth of what we will expect in California. We Face-timed with Chelsea Blasco, Special Events Director and Regional Conference Coordinator for CSUF PRSSA. She enthusiastically described what will be lined up at conference.
Chelsea Blasco
Couple words to describe the conference:

  • Superheros
  • Beaches
  • Dr. H
  • Networking
After speaking with Chelsea, it really got me excited to have all these opportunities to meet with PR professionals and network. We then went over resumes and business cards to help clean them up for the conference.

Heres what I'll be passing out! Which one do you think?
